First of all... Hi Jess! (Since I now know you read this I thought I'd send you a personal greeting!)
Secondly I am going to copy a short rant that I wrote on a yellow legal pad in my car while waiting to meet Bob for lunch at the mall...
===insert clip now===
Why is it when people find themselves in a parking lot their ability to follow basic traffic laws suddenly gets thrown out the window? Is it the excitement of reaching their destination? Is it simply that they feel they have followed traffic laws long enough and they are simply done. Done I say! Or maybe it's a secret force field that turns off the ability to reason and replaces it with one urge... must... find... parking... It's like an instinct. Suddenly everyone switches into survival mode in which those willing to take the greatest risk with their cars get the best spot. Whatever it may be there is no question that traffic laws simply don't seem to apply in parking lots. Turn signals go out the window. We see people driving across several parking spots. We see folks who pull into a spot and halfway into another without thinking that no one else will be able to park in the second spot. Small cars dart in front of large cars waiting patiently for someone to pull out of a space. Large cars use their immense girth to shoulder small cars out of the way. It's a free for all. In fact it's the same way when people leave the parking lot. Suddenly following the clearly marked route is not enough. They have to get out of that parking lot and they have to get out of it NOW. Who cares if there is a speed bump/stop sign/person strolling across the cross walk? It's just a fascinating phenomenon and I'd give a whole nickel to know what exactly causes it.

I feel marginally better now that I have gotten that off my chest. Parking lots are just weird places. Sort of like the Bermuda Triangle of traffic law.
Today was a good day. I got out from under my proverbial rock and actually got to interact with people. I took my mom to lunch, hung out with my brother for a few hours and then spent the evening with Bethany and Mike. (Mike if you ever read this you are an excellent cook!) I also got to talk with Sarah and Steph on the phone. I'm so blessed to have so many special people in my life.
I feel as though there was something else specific that I wanted to share. Something witty that I was thinking about on my ride home from Bethany and Mike's in the care. Nonetheless it is eluding me so I'm going to go do some other sort of writing and leave it at that.
